RAB (Rencana Anggaran Biaya)
Definition
Rencana Anggaran Biaya — a bill of quantities or cost estimate that itemises every material, labour, and overhead component of a construction project with quantities, unit rates, and total costs. The RAB is a required document in the Indonesian building permit (PBG) process and forms the basis for contractor tendering and contract pricing. It is typically prepared by a quantity surveyor or cost estimator (estimator) working from the architect's drawings and specifications.
Example
Before submitting a PBG application in Indonesia, the building owner must provide an RAB — a spreadsheet breakdown of all construction components from pondasi batu kali to cat dinding, each with quantity, unit rate in rupiah, and subtotal — which also determines the permit fee charged by the local government.
