Pasir
STRUCTURE & PHYSICSbeginner
Definition
Sand — the fine aggregate used in concrete, mortar, plaster, and screeds. Indonesian pasir is classified by grain size: pasir halus (fine sand, for finishing) and pasir kasar (coarse sand, for structural mixes). Pasir is sourced from riverbeds, beaches, and manufactured crushings, with significant regional variation in availability and price.
Example
A plesteran render coat uses a 1:3 mix of semen to pasir halus — the finer sand producing a smoother surface for the acian skim coat, while a structural concrete uses pasir kasar in a larger 1:2:3 semen-pasir-batu-split ratio.
