Perspective Drawing
REPRESENTATION & COMMUNICATIONbeginner
Definition
A drawing system that represents three-dimensional space on a flat surface as it appears to the human eye — with parallel lines converging at vanishing points and elements reducing in size with distance. Perspective was codified in the Renaissance and transformed architectural representation. It is used for design communication and client presentations.
Example
Raphael and Bramante's architectural perspectives of the early 16th century established conventions of spatial representation that are still recognisable in contemporary architectural visualisations.
