Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design — the most widely used green building certification system in the world, developed by the US Green Building Council. Buildings earn points across categories including energy, water, materials, indoor quality, and site. Certification levels are Certified, Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

The Bullitt Center in Seattle (2013), known as 'the world's greenest commercial building,' achieved LEED Platinum and Living Building Challenge certification with a 250-year design life.
