Definition
Curtains or drapes — fabric hanging that controls light, privacy, and solar heat gain in windows. Gorden is made from cotton, polyester, or blended fabrics and is suspended from a rod or track. In Indonesian tropical architecture, gorden functions as a key passive cooling element, blocking solar radiation especially on west-facing windows.
Example
An Indonesian living room uses heavy thermal gorden in a pale colour — drawing closed during the hot afternoon to block the intense afternoon sun while remaining light and washable in the humid tropical environment.
