REPRESENTATION & COMMUNICATIONbeginner
Definition
A curated collection of an architect's or student's work — drawings, models, renderings, photographs, and text — assembled to demonstrate skills, design thinking, and project range. The architectural portfolio is a primary tool for job applications and studio admissions. Editing, layout, and sequence are as important as the projects themselves.
Example
The portfolio of a graduating architecture student typically spans 20–40 pages, presenting 3–5 projects with process drawings, final designs, and physical model photography — each showing a different aspect of design ability.
