ACP (Aluminium Composite Panel)
BUILDING MATERIALS & CONSTRUCTIONbeginnerACP
Definition
Aluminium Composite Panel — a sandwich panel of thin aluminium sheets bonded to a polyethylene or fire-resistant core, used for building cladding, signage, and interior partitions. ACP is lightweight, weather-resistant, and available in unlimited colours and finishes. It requires careful detail design to manage thermal expansion and movement, and fire-rated versions are required in high-rise buildings in Indonesia.
Example
An Indonesian shopping mall uses fire-rated ACP panels for its exterior facade — the panels finished in bright colours and installed on a concealed steel subframe with sealed joints that allow for thermal movement while preventing water infiltration.
