Rangka Hollow
STRUCTURE & PHYSICSintermediate
Definition
Metal stud framing or cold-formed steel ceiling frame — a system of galvanised steel U-channel and C-channel sections (typically 75–100 mm depth, 1–2 mm thickness) assembled into a grid to support suspended ceilings. Rangka-hollow is fast to install, reusable, and allows flexible routing of MEP systems above, and is the standard suspended ceiling support system in Indonesian buildings.
Example
A typical Indonesian office floor uses a rangka-hollow frame with 1200×1200 mm primary grid members and 600 mm secondary members — supporting plafon-gypsum panels and accommodating a full MEP plenum above for electrical cable trays, supply ductwork, and return plenums.
