Definition
Swiss-French architect and urban theorist (1887–1965), born Charles-Édouard Jeanneret, and one of the founding figures of modern architecture. He developed the Five Points of Architecture, the Modulor proportional system, and ideas about mass housing that transformed the built environment worldwide — for better and worse.
Example
The Unité d'Habitation in Marseille (1952) — a self-contained vertical city of 337 apartments with shops, a gym, and a rooftop terrace — was Le Corbusier's prototype for collective urban living.
