Definition
A digital process in which a building is designed and managed as an intelligent 3D model containing data about every element — not just geometry, but material specifications, costs, schedules, and performance properties. BIM coordinates all project participants — architects, engineers, contractors — around a single shared model.
Example
The construction of the Crossrail (Elizabeth Line) stations in London used BIM extensively to coordinate the complex underground infrastructure across dozens of engineering disciplines.
